FAQ:
Common questions about your newborn and baby photography session
The best time to schedule your newborn session is during second trimester to ensure availability. But I had moms contact me close to their due date too.
I know that babies rarely arrive on their due date, but to secure availability in my calendar, it is best to book ahead of time. Then, when your baby arrives, please let me know as soon as possible to secure a date within 2 weeks of your baby’s birth. I will also send you some tips to prepare for the session at this time.
First two weeks of life are the best for taking photos of your newborn. A baby that is 2 weeks old or younger tend to be asleep for longer periods at a time, snuggly and still curly from the womb and are more easily molded into those newborn poses. If your baby is older than 2 weeks old, it is still possible to capture very cute images, however the images might not be the same as you see in my portfolio. Newborns older than 2 weeks sleep less and you will have more pictures where baby is awake 😊
It depends on whether you would like to include siblings and parents into the photoshoot sessions, if the baby is sleepy and other contingencies. I never rush with the session and am more patient with babies. Usually the sessions might last from 2 to 3 hours.
You don’t have to bring anything to the session except your baby. I have all the high end props, backdrops, accessories, headbands, etc. for the session. If you still want to bring something, please let me know beforehand and we will discuss it prior to the session.
I will send you all high definition color corrected pictures after 1 week from the session date. You will then have 1 week to choose specific amount of images for me to have an artistic editing on them. I will then take 2 weeks for the artistic editing of those images you select and send it back to you. So if you are quick in selecting your images, it will take about 3 weeks.
Artistic editing includes skin smoothing, adjusting reds and purples in the skin, removing temporary blemishes, modifying background, etc. At the same time, I will do my best to keep newborn skin looking natural – I will not smooth newborns skin to the point where it looks unnatural. I will also leave all permanent marks on the skin untouched and try to keep newborn’s skin texture.
Currently I accept checks, cash, Paypal, Venmo and Chase Quick transactions. Non-refundable fee of $150 will be required to book your spot. After the baby arrives, please let me know as soon as possible and we will schedule the date of your session. The full session amount due will be at the day of the session. Please let us know how you will be paying when you arrive.
We can reschedule the session if the baby gets sick, as we don’t want to take pictures of unhappy baby. Please let me know at least 48 hours before, if you would like to reschedule the session. In case if I get sick, I will immediately notify you and we will reschedule the session.
Yes! I have had both TDap and Whooping Cough vaccinations in 2019 and adhere to strict hygiene guidelines during the photo session with newborns. Your baby’s safety is my number one priority.
